Topic: Step by step instructions for godaddy.com purchased domain names

After piecing together all the threads from the forum but mostly through hours and hours of trial and error, here are the correct steps for setting up your domain name in godaddy.com for your APL account.  There is no reason to forward your domain for hosting.  You can do all the domain updates in godaddy.com.  Then go to your APL account to set up your proxy.

Go to your godaddy.com account

- Click on “My Products”

- Click on the domain name you want to use; this will take you to “Domain Details”

- Under “DNS Manager” in the middle of the page, click the “Launch” link

- You are now in the “Zone File Editor”; go down to “CNAME (Alias)” area

- Look down the “Host” list and find the “www”; there should be an “@” next to it in the “Points to” list

- Click on the “@” sign and replace it with proxy.acmephoneleads.net

You should now have “www” under “Host” and proxy.acmephoneleads.net under “Points to”.

- Click the “Save Zone File” button towards the top.

Next, click back to the “Domain Details” page for the domain name you are using,

- Under the “Domain Information” area, go down to “Forwarding”; it will probably show “Off” next to it so click on the “Manage” link beside it

- This will take you to “Forwarding and Masking”

If the “Forward yourdomainname to:” does not include the “www”, you will need to forward your domain name to itself.

- Enter www.yourdomainname.com in the box next to http:// and click “OK”; be sure to include the “www”

I gave it approximately 2 hours and the updates had taken.  I then went to my APL account and set-up the proxy.

Hope this helps those that purchased domain names through godaddy.com.

See you on the inside!
